Our aim is:
As a group we want to raise awareness, we feel that racism is not talked about as much as it should be. Racism is a major issue that everyone experiances, some worse than others as it can also be physical abuse as well as verbal. Although even if the abuse is verbal it can sometimes be more painful and hurtful than actually being beaten up. People feel upset but mostly disgusted as being abused because you happen to be a different skin colour or different religion to someone else is not an excuse to be racially abusive or cruel to them.
This brings us onto what we want to do to try and get racism stopped! One thing we are certain we will be able to do is raise more awareness for racism by advertising that it is wrong and people shouldn't be afraid to raise their voices in protest! We are also planning to make talks with people especially with younger people as they're growing up in a world where they think racism is right and theres nothing wrong with it and if more children keep growing up thinking this, then racism is never going to go away instead it's just going to get worse and worse. We feel we need to try and raise awareness about racism while it is less common and easier to takle, if we leave this problem for any longer then racism will start to becomemore common and less easy to stop as there will be more people for racism than against it. We all know it happens we're just to afraid to say anything to anyone.
We have already done interviews with many people discussing the topic of racism, how they feel about it, if they know anyone who is racist or if they have heard of 'ShowRacism The Red Card' our results were very interesting as one of the eight people we interviewed felt that racism was a part of life but most people gave us the response we expected which was that racism was wrong. Another question we asked was if they thought more people were racist in our generation than others five of the eight people felt this was true whereas the other three people felt this was false. One person even stated that Hitler and the Jewish were extreme example of racism yet they happened years ago however they didn't disagree that racism still occurs in our generation. All but one person stated that they know someone who is racist or has been racist or offense in the past.
We have also done a survey which is attatched below please read for more information about what other people think of racism:
